It is pleasure to feature Michelle Kennedy in this week’s blog post. Michelle is the founder and CEO of Peanut. She started the app for modern motherhood after experiencing the loneliness that accompanied the birth of her first son. Prior to this, she was Deputy CEO of social app, Badoo. She was also previously a Board Advisor for the female focussed dating app, Bumble. She lives in London with her family.

1. Best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Why not you. If there is a problem, or something is broken, why can’t you be the one to fix it? Don’t wait for others to do it, you can be the one to make changes.

2. Worst piece of advice you’ve been given?
Make sure to do everything that you want to do in your career before you become a mother. I fundamentally believe that you are the same capable and strong woman that you were before motherhood as you are after. Motherhood is a gift — and although your schedule might change and shift, your ability to show up to work wholeheartedly every day to create and build does not.

3. What would you tell your younger self?
Trust in yourself and everything that you are capable of.

4. What excites you most about the future of your industry?
Women quite literally run the world. Mothers are accountable for a market that’s worth $2.4 trillion, and that’s no joke. I’m excited that this is a market not just for a product, but for thousands of women to be connected and to learn from each other, find solace in each other, and to prove to each other that you are still YOU when you become a mama.

5. Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
Not shockingly, my family. They’re the reason I do everything and show up each day (at work and at home) giving my all.
