Tanuja is a Partner in the London office and a practitioner in McKinsey Transformation. She specializes in commercial transformations and has helped numerous companies re-design their go-tomarket structure, re-energise sales and channel effectiveness and implement pricing excellence to drive organic growth. Tanuja re-joined McKinsey in 2019 in London from Apax Partners. She was at McKinsey from 1995 to 2002 in North America, and left to hold various executive roles in technology & telecom firms, most recently President and & CEO of Schneider Electric UK & Ireland.

1. Best piece of advice you’ve been given 

40/40/20 – Spend 40% of your time with customers understanding what they need; 40% with your teams helping them learn, be a coach; 20% for yourself – to rejuvenate; learn; think; grow

“Don’t speak in the meeting”

3. What would you tell your younger self? 

Love what you do, do what you love; have a plan and pursue it relentlessly

4. What excites you most about the future of your industry? 

The impact of cloud computing, digital acceleration; internet of things, robotics/automation is accelerating change at warp speed in every sector of the industry. Businesses need to embrace this change and ensure they have the talent, operating model and courage to make the migration. The How will be more important than the What – and change will be increasingly about building new businesses and scaling.

5. Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

My Father – he taught me to be bold, to be curious, to be an entrepreneur, to be confident in myself; to be human and generous, to have empathy and to think nothing was impossible
